How Colors Play A Major Role In Interior Designing

By: Guy Starbuck

Well, it is quite amazing the things that colors can do. Specialists from the Rohm and Haas Quality Paint Institute suggest using colors to brighten up an otherwise dreary room. Create waves with the right choice of colors to produce a setting for your furnishings.

From the time man first built a home, people have always desired to render their homes attractive through the use of color and design. From times immemorial, Nature has been the major inspiration for color, lighting, as well as texture. Now color, since long, has been a key component of design, right from neutral shades to vivid hues.

People have been quite oblivious of the manner in which color influences their frame of mind as well as their environment. Color has a great influence on the way people perceive and understand their environs. The appropriate use of color tends to make any setting beautiful.

Fashion trends may vary with the look and flavor of the season; however genuine color trends are always eternal. What is a fashion craze today may vanish the next day when it comes to style, furnishings and details, but if you are attempting to create an aura instead of a design or a specific style, then you can always fall back on color. The following are the elementary color trends that you should keep in mind to balance design:

Comfort Colors

It is best to use comfort colors for kitchens and living rooms as they envelop the room in a warm and cozy ambience. The most widely preferred comfort colors are neutrals shades as in wheat and biscuit, chocolate browns, cinnamon apple pie tones and pumpkin oranges.

Natural Colors

You can use natural colors as a subtle accessory or a prominent accent. They work well in bedrooms and bathrooms, as they are reminiscent of the great outdoors. Natural tones like yellows, greens, organic browns, and blues are frequently employed in combination with brilliant metallic or copper and rust high lights.

Contrast Colors

Conspicuous contrast colors like dark plums and reds and zesty blacks and whites lend a lovely touch of classiness to a room. You can use contrast colors as highlights, or as a stylish setting. These colors are mainly used in family rooms, powder rooms, or formal dining areas with shiny brass metallic as harmonizing add-ons.

If color is used in the right way, it can lend a distinctive element to your interior design, which would otherwise be missing. From striking and bracing to constrained and relaxing, color is definitely the essence of design. In the absence of color any room will appear dull and uninteresting regardless of the kind of architectural style or furnishings that are featured.
